Who invented the method of measuring the distances of Galaxies?
We admire to know that one lady scientist discovered the process of measuring distance between Galaxies. The lady scientist Helen Sawyer Hogg discovered so many new things by showing special interest on the stars which are in groups. She also found the distance between the Galaxies which are outside of the Milky Way. Now-a-days also they are measuring the distances of stars by their brightness. On those days it is rare for ladies t go to school. But Helen sawyer hog made experiments on planets and stars. She acquired so much of knowledge about sky and she also encouraged her students to discover about space.
Helen was born in 1905, August 1st in Massachusetts. She achieved Doctorate in 1931 by doing research on space. She studied in Harvard University. This University did not used to give doctorates to ladies on those days. But Helen is the first lady to get the Doctorate from that University. After getting married she did experiments with her husband. She was the president of ‘Canadian astronomical society’.
