Chester F. CarlsonTaking Xerox of document is the easiest way to have a duplicate copy of a document.  Xerox machine was invented by Chester F. Carlson of California. He secured degree from California Institute of Information Technology. He was doing the job of a patent lawyer.  All the documents had to be written by hand at that time. One copy of the document regarding patent rights has to be with patent officials and another copy has to be with the person who took the patent. So, he needed to write each document twice. As this method is difficult, another method was followed.

Here, only one copy will be written and a picture of this copy would be taken, which serve as another copy. But taking picture is a costly affair that time. Then he started thinking for a permanent solution to this problem. Then he got an idea to design duplicating machine. Chester Carlson made the duplicate machine with utmost difficulties. Initially no one has shown much interest on his machine. So he felt worried. But with in a short time, some persons have agreed for manufacturing this machine. From 16thSeptember, 1959 Xerox machine came into use.
