Coulomb’s inverse square law We know that the Newton’s law of gravitational force tells us that the every body on the earth attracts each other. The attractive force between them is inversely proportional to the square of the distances between them. This principle is given by coulomb and it is proved in the electric and magnetic field cases. In the magnetic and electric fields, the like charges repel and unlike charges attract each other. And so the law of similarity is proved. The principles given by coulomb in the case of statistics and friction are used until now and they are very useful.

Coulomb was born in a town in France to a rich family and he had learnt languages, art, physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects. He had joined as engineer in the military and took part in the construction of the machines. During the French revolution, he had lost his property and then he went to Blois. There Coulomb was involved in the research and when napoleon was ruling, he took the orders as the education department officer. His torsion balance was one of the most successful one and he proved the electric and magnetic laws with them. This is very sensitive and we can measure the equal weight of the one lakh part of the gram also. With the help of this, Coulomb had found the coulomb’s inverse square law in electricity. Coulomb had proved the same in the magnetic fields also and he was the first person to express the electric force in the mathematical form. And they named the unit of the electric force after his name as coulomb. One coulomb is equal to the one ampere of electricity in one second.
