Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) present in paints cause environmental pollution
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) present in paints cause environmental pollution | Methanol used in paints release poisonous substances even after years
Paints we use for our houses are one of the many reasons for environmental pollution. Now a days, various types of colors are available in the market. Most of the color paints use a colorless liquid called Methanol in them. It is even mixed in petrol used by vehicles.
Methanol is harmful not only to the environment but also to the human’s health. According to the survey conducted by Pollution Control board, the air inside the rooms is polluted five times more than that of outside air. Volatile Organic Compounds are used in the colors used for painting walls. These compounds release poisonous substances even after many years.
Today, various colors became available in the market which don’t cause any harm to the environment. Colors with less VOC should be used. They don’t cause environmental pollution. Natural colors also now became available in the market. In these natural colors, natural substances like Turpentine, Lime are used instead of harmful substances like Cadmium, Lead, and Chromium. Choosing these natural colors for painting the house, would do good not only to the environment but also for our health.
