How Was The Velocity Of Light Discovered For The First Time?

LightFor humans, the light was a mystery for so many centuries. Mainly, many thought that the speed of the light is very high, so nobody can measure it.  However, one experiment put breaks for these thoughts done by a physical scientist Michelson in 1878.  He intelligently tried to find the velocity of light by using two mirrors and one small Apparatus.

In the experiment to measure velocity of light, he took two mirrors and arranged in that manner where the two mirrors were in opposite directions, the light fell on one mirror and reflected in other mirror and he maintained the distance between two mirrors as 1986.23 feet. After that, he made one mirror move around itself for 256 times in one second using one small apparatus.  By using a lens he made a light ray fall on the constant mirror. The light ray reflected and fell on the mirror which is rotating. To observe the light on the moving mirror he arranged one drape. Because the second mirror was moving, reflected ray that fell on the moving mirror fell on the drape. Michelson observed that the light coming from the constant mirror is falling 133m.m away from the   place where to should fell. By collecting all these information, he calculated that the   velocity of light is 1,86,380 mile per second. Later with   experiment made by using latest apparatuses, it was found that the  speed of light is 1, 86,282.397 miles per second.
