RADAR Is Used To Know the Distance and Other Kinetic Parameters of Distant Objects | RADAR Has Many Applications in Astronomy
RADAR is the short form for Radio Detection and Ranging. RADAR is the technical process used to get the information regarding the distance, height, velocity and direction of the stationary or moving objects which are out of sight. In RADAR, high velocity electromagnetic waves called Microwaves are used. Microwaves travel with the velocity of light i.e. they can travel three lakh kilometers in a second. In RADAR, there will be transmitter and receiver for the waves. Using the transmitter, generated electromagnetic waves are sent. In their journey, if they hit any object or obstacle then they get scattered.
Some of the waves get reflected also. Reflected waves reach the receiver. In general, receiver will be at the place of transmitter only. Based on the time gap between the transmission and reception of microwaves at the RADAR station and light velocity analysis, distance of the object or the jet plane or any astronomical body can be known accurately. RADAR is used not only for the purpose of measuring the distance of various distant objects, but also for analyzing the information about the natural disasters like cyclones, floods. Moreover, RADAR systems are widely used for sending to and receiving information messages from Space ships.
