Dominique-Jean-LorreyWho was the first person to use Ambulance?  Ambulance is very handy when a person could not move because of accidents or when someone is seriously ill and could not walk.  It is natural to have the curiosity to know who used the ambulance first and how ambulance came to existence.  Ambulance came into existence in 1792.  Dominique-Jean-Lorrey was a French doctor and was serving the army of Napoleon.  He was very close to Napoleon.  He wanted to improve battle field treatment of wounded soldiers.  He arranged curtain to a horse cart.  These curtains prevented dust from falling on the wounds of the patients.  He also made arrangement inside the cart to lie down the patients.  He used this horse-drawn cart as an ambulance.  Gradually changes took place in the design of ambulance.  Tyres were used for some time.  Later in the beginning of 20th century, an ambulance which runs with a motor was introduced.  Presently latest models of ambulances with many facilities are available.
