Nagaland is a state in the North-east India. Nagaland has Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipal states and Myanmar country as its borders. Kohima is the capital of Nagaland. Nagaland is divided into seven districts. 84% of the population in Nagaland belongs to the Naga race. There are 16 sub races of people among them. Along with them, there are people belonging to the Indo-Mongoloid religion. Also there are Bengali Muslims and Assamese.
85% of the total population in Nagaland follows Christianism only. Majority of them are Baptists. According to the census of 2000, population of Nagaland is 15.5 lakhs. English is the official language of Nagaland. English has become daily usable language for the Nagaland people. English has become their commonly used language. Older generation people express their discomfort as this gradual increase of usage of English language would suppress the original native languages of Nagaland. Nagaland was formed as a state in 1963.
