People can see the sun, stars and moon but they can’t see the planets, comets and other celestial bodies. Telescope is the device which is used for seeing the planets, comets and asteroids. Telescope was found in Netherlands in 17th century. Idea of telescope was first found in 1608 and there are many scientists who declared that they found the telescope but finally H.Lippershey was the scientist who found the telescope. This word was originated from Greek language. Tele means far and scope means vision. The word telescope was first used by Greek scientist Demisiani. This name was given to the telescope which was invented by Galileo in 1611. So, telescope word is in use from that day.  Galileo had used the ‘Perspicillum’ word for telescope.
