How will the people walk on the hot burning coal pieces? | What are the factors affecting the conduction of heat in such cases?
The people think that there is some trick in walking on the fire and this is not true. The people who are going to walk on the fire wet their legs before and the water gets evaporated as their start walking on the fire. The heat from the fire does not reach the foot as there is a layer of vapor and they walk fast before the heat reaches their foot. As the coal is insulator and not a conductor, it can’t conduct the heat. If the people walk on the other material of same temperature other than coal, their legs get affected. As the skin on the legs is hard, the heat won’t reach the legs.
