Birds are a major problem for the flights | Large amount of loss is incurred when a bird hits the flight
Wright brothers are the inventors of aeroplanes and once when they were travelling in the plane, birds flew across the plane in a group. They had turned the plane in another direction and they were saved from the accident. Birds are being a problem for the planes from that time till now.
- According to the survey conducted by NASA, 120 crore dollars was the loss for aeroplanes created by birds across the world.
- 80,000 planes had faced the problems due to birds from 1990 to 2007.
- In 1998, 219 people had died in the plane crash which is caused by birds.
- In India, 7 crores loss was created by birds in 2009 in 300 incidents.
Planes fly with high speeds in the sky and when the speed of the bird is added to the plane, accident occurs. When the bird enters the engine or turbines of the plane, problem is more. For example, if a bird of 5 kilos hits the plane which is flying with 240 kilometers per hour speed, then it is equal to 100 kilos stone which is thrown from 50 feet height. So the authorities in the aero plane will keep telling the pilots about the movement of the birds and the regions in which the birds are more. They use technical devices to prevent the birds entering the airports. They also frighten the birds with sounds, lasers and by growing the enemy animals. Authorities are trying to build a plane which withstands the hit of the birds. Research is going in this issue in India also. A national committee is established for discussing this issue.
